The Tiffen 138mm 4pt/2mm Star Filter creates multiple light points, or "stars", that extend outward from a central light source. This filter is supplied in a rotating mount for precise placement of the star effect.

Wedding photographers will particularly appreciate the value of this filter. For special effects shots, why not offer your client a table photograph of the menu or invitation next to a sparkling candle filled with stars? Are you shooting at night? Give that street lamp a different, more dramatic appearance by using the star filter. Any point light source will achieve the effect.

Tiffen's ColorCore glass is produced by a process that involves permanently laminating the filter material between two pieces of optical glass that are ground flat to tolerances of one ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounted in precision aluminium rings.

Note: With an 8-point filter, the numerous star lines can tend to dominate the rest of the image, so use it with caution. Generally, medium or larger apertures are sufficient to achieve a good star effect. Always test before critical situations.
