The Tiffen 138mm 6-point/2mm star filter creates multiple points of light, or "stars", that extend outward from a central light source. This filter is supplied in a rotating mount for precise placement of the star effect.

Wedding photographers will particularly appreciate the value of this filter. For special effects shots, why not offer your client a table photo of the menu or invitation next to a sparkling, starry candle? Are you shooting at night? Give that street lamp a different and more dramatic appearance using the star filter. Any point light source will produce the effect.

Tiffen's ColorCore glass is produced by a process that permanently laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, polished to a tolerance of one ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounted in precision aluminium rings.

Note: With an 8-point filter, the numerous star lines can tend to dominate the rest of the image, so use it with caution. Generally, medium or larger apertures are sufficient to achieve a good star effect. Always test before critical situations.
