Utilising Sony's advanced imaging technology, the HDC-P31 delivers superb HD pictures with exceptionally high sensitivity of F12/F13 and impressive 62 dB noise. Adopting the same CMOS technologies, the camera can guarantee consistent picture quality, system and workflow with Sony's HDC series of system cameras. With its compact and lightweight design, it further expands applications such as studio, events, houses of worship as well as hard-to-reach crane, rail or dolly shots.
Enhanced remote control functions
Remote access via web user interface enables menu adjustment, status monitoring, log files and camera firmware updates when installed in hard-to-reach locations. Supported lens back focus can be adjusted remotely from Sony's Master Setup Unit (MSU) or Remote Control Panel (RCP). And IP tally enables flexible and longer connection via network cable. This enables a more efficient workflow.
The HDC-P31 supports HDR through S-Log3 / HLG and Sony's SR Live workflow enabling simultaneous HDR and SDR production. The camera also supports SR Live metadata, which is embedded in the SDI signal and enables the quality of HDR and SDR signals to be maintained. The camera meets the growing demand for HDR production worldwide.

The HDC-P31 is a compact, POV-style multi-function camera using the sophisticated core technologies from our HDC system camera series. The HDC-P31 is equipped with three 2/3-inch HD CMOS sensors with global shutter designed and manufactured by Sony. The HDC-P31's form factor enables it to be placed anywhere, and its LAN-based systemisation enables it to be controlled from anywhere. The HDC-P31 delivers high-quality HDR HD pictures and has all the operational controls expected from a Sony HDC camera as a standalone system or as part of an HDC camera system.
Uncompromising picture quality
The HDC-P31 delivers premium pictures with the latest 2/3-inch CMOS sensor with global shutter technology. The new sensor enables the HDC-P31 to work with a wide range of lighting and display devices whilst minimising artefacts. The new imager and signal processor enable the HDC-P31 to capture flawless pictures with low noise (62 dB) and excellent sensitivity. (F12 at 1080/59.94p or F13 at 1080/50p)
ARIA: Automatic Restoration of Illumination Attenuation
F-drop and peripheral light loss are unwanted physical phenomena, especially when shooting objects at long distances. With the HDC series' newly developed ARIA function, the impact on picture appearance is automatically compensated for by processing inside the camera for the supported lens.
Easy remote access in hard-to-reach locations
Quick adjustment from web user interface - The HDC-P31 supports web access for operational control, status monitoring and firmware upgrade via a network. Camera configurations can be changed remotely, eliminating the need to retrieve the camera from hard-to-reach positions or to decouple camera support systems.
RBF: Remote Back Focus - A supported lens's back focus can be set remotely from a Sony Master Setup Unit (MSU) or Remote Control Panel (RCP). This function enables a single video engineer to check and adjust back focus from a premium monitoring area whilst the camera remains in operating position. It also means that back focus adjustment can be carried out quickly without having to guide a second technician through the process. RBF reduces set-up time on the day.
Efficient workflow for HDR production
Simultaneous HDR/SDR production (SR Live) - The HDC-P31 uses Sony's SR Live HDR system for live applications: this system enables the simultaneous creation of HDR and SDR signals without compromise and without additional adjustments to either signal path during production.
SR Live metadata - SR Live metadata consists of a data packet that stores a rich set of parameter values corresponding to real-time parameter settings of acquisition devices. From these values, high-quality, uncompromised reconstruction of the SDR signal can be performed from the HDR production master and can be easily monitored throughout the production chain.
Easy operation via software master control: HZC-CSM10 - The HZC-CSM10 software-based master control panel enables complete control and visualisation of the HDR workflow. All HDC cameras can be connected via the network and respond quickly to central operation.
