Today's audio production increasingly relies on network integration to connect systems and stream high-quality content. The Yamaha SWP2-10MMF is a Dante-compatible 10 gigabit network switch designed to set up and maintain a network with minimal effort, allowing you to focus on your work.
The SWP2-10MMF is a multimode fibre model that supports transmission over distances of up to 300 m (900 ft), and with 10 gigabit optical support, you will have all the bandwidth you need to run your network at 96 kHz over that distance. And as your network grows, the SWP2 series allows you to recall a Dante-optimised configuration by simply toggling a DIP switch. No expertise or training required.
Network reliability is particularly crucial in live sound reinforcement applications where interruptions are not tolerated. With this in mind, Yamaha designed the SWP2 with reliable ethercon connectors instead of conventional RJ45 connectors, giving you one less thing to worry about. Speaking of reliability, these units are equipped with a locking AC connector to prevent accidental disconnection. A redundant XLR-type DC power supply (sold separately) is also available as an option to protect against AC power issues.
Data isolation through the use of three distinct VLAN presets enables efficient management of multiple services simultaneously, such as Dante communication, digital mixing and power amplifier control. By creating virtual networks for these functions, the SWP2 eliminates interference, leaving you with a stable and reliable audio network. Presets can be selected via a DIP switch on the front panel and can be customised as needed by switching to user mode.
A dedicated Yamaha LAN Monitor application for Windows provides a comprehensive overview on a single screen, giving you "network visibility" of all the necessary parameters when used with SWP/SWR series switches. You can even take a snapshot of your preferred state and set up an alarm to alert you if settings change, so that issues can be identified and resolved quickly and easily.
