Neumann monitor alignment microphone
If you can't hear it, you can't mix it. We say this often at Sweetwater. We repeat it like a mantra. That's why owners of Neumann KH series monitors must add the Neumann MA 1 to their monitoring chain. This state-of-the-art automatic monitor alignment system uses advanced speaker calibration algorithms developed in collaboration with Fraunhofer IIS, along with an individually calibrated measurement microphone, to optimise the frequency curve, amplitude and phase of your monitors. This simplified speaker optimisation system stores its calibration data directly in your DSP-equipped KH series studio monitors, so you won't need to bother with a cumbersome plug-in to make it work. If you demand optimal sound quality in every mixing environment, the Neumann MA 1 automatic monitor alignment system meets your expectations, with practical "set and forget" simplicity.
Provides simplified monitor optimisation with minimal hassle
The MA 1 is a premier optimisation tool for a stereo pair of Neumann KH 80 DSP monitors. It is also compatible with stereo configurations containing non-DSP Neumann KH series monitors and a KH 750 DSP subwoofer. This powerful automatic monitor alignment system is very easy to use. Simply connect your speakers to the balanced analogue outputs of your audio interface — you can also connect them to the balanced analogue outputs of a monitor controller. If your interface has an AES3 port, you can alternatively connect your KH 750 DSP subwoofer to it. Your DSP-equipped monitors or subwoofer must also be connected to your computer's Ethernet port (use a standard Ethernet switch for multiple connections). Next, you connect the included measurement microphone to the microphone input of your audio interface (+48V phantom power required). Finally, launch the software and the calibration algorithms developed by Fraunhofer will optimise the frequency curve of your DSP-equipped monitors, as well as the amplitude and phase response of all speakers in your configuration. Best of all, your calibration data is stored directly inside your DSP-equipped monitors. This means you won't accidentally leave a plug-in instantiated on your mix bus during rendering — a common frustration with many software-based room correction solutions. Additionally, your alignment settings will remain consistent across all your sessions, even if they use different applications.
