Neumann microphone head for SKM 500 G4/2000/6000/9000 (Nickel)
Neumann sound on stage. Wireless
The KK 204 is a top-of-the-range capsule head for Sennheiser SKM 2000/6000/9000 handheld transmitters as well as for EW G4 300/500 wireless systems. Its precision-manufactured condenser capsule delivers authentic Neumann sound, combined with the freedom of wireless use and all the benefits of a robust stage microphone: excellent protection against plosives, enormous SPL capability and high feedback rejection.
Studio quality for wireless systems
The KK 204 capsule head brings studio sound quality to the stage for the most demanding live applications. Simply put, the KK 204 is the best capsule head for the best wireless system, combining Neumann's legendary sense of perfection with Sennheiser's long expertise in live performance engineering.
The KK 204 capsule head is based on the hugely successful and award-winning KMS series of Neumann wired stage microphones. While most stage microphones use dynamic capsules, the KK 204 is fitted with a true condenser capsule offering the superior clarity that has made Neumann studio microphones famous worldwide. At the same time, the KK 204 has the robustness required for stage use, refuting the myth that condenser microphones must be "fragile". The KK 204 can handle enormous sound pressure levels of up to 150 dB without clipping, and its tight, frequency-independent cardioid directivity ensures high gain before feedback. The KK 204 has a far smoother frequency response than dynamic microphones and airy high frequencies. Compared to dynamic microphones, the Neumann KK 204 offers a significantly superior transient response, resulting in a more immediate and emotional vocal sound. In practical terms: effortless intelligibility, without the usual equalisation boosts — which further improves feedback rejection.
The KK 204 is optimised for close-up sound capture; a fixed high-pass filter compensates for the proximity effect and ensures clear bass, even if the singer's lips touch the microphone. The grille is made from hardened steel and features a highly effective internal pop shield that also keeps moisture away from the capsule. Thanks to Neumann's careful engineering, these acoustic filters cause no sibilance problems.
Applications
Neumann capsule heads in combination with Sennheiser wireless systems have proven their exceptional sound quality and reliability on some of the world's biggest stages, including at international television events such as the Eurovision Song Contest.
The KK 204 is designed for vocals and speech on stage and in other environments prone to feedback. It is suitable for in-ear monitoring systems as well as conventional monitor systems.
Features
- Neumann sound for Sennheiser SKM 2000/6000/9000 wireless systems and also EW G4 300/500
- Tight cardioid directivity with no off-axis colouration
- Feedback resistant, high rear sound rejection (180°)
- Unaffected by extreme sound pressure levels
- Built-in pop protection, low handling noise
- Easy to clean
