The KMS 105 digital vocal microphone in nickel from Neumann is the transition from analogue KMS 105 microphones to the digital domain. Based on the AES42 standard, this microphone is a suitable choice for live and stage applications.nnIt offers all the characteristics of its analogue counterpart. Additionally, it presents the advantages of digital circuit technology, such as extended dynamic range, more robust operation (EMC compatible), and avoidance of clipping thanks to the integrated peak limiter/compressor. You can use one of the digital microphone interfaces (DMI) with the remote control software (RCS) which allows preprogrammed settings to be stored in the microphone.nnIt has been developed to optimally transmit the human voice in the demanding conditions present on the live stage. It is equipped with a condenser microphone capsule with a cardioid directional characteristic that allows possible suppression of sounds coming from behind the microphone. It comes with a matching support clip and is supplied in an attractive padded nylon bag durable enough for touring.nnThe microphone's high acoustic resolution and smooth frequency response ensure that the musician has optimal control of the stage performance at all times. Particularly thanks to its low self-noise and its colouration-free crosstalk behaviour, the microphone is suitable for use with in-ear monitoring systems. With its supercardioid characteristic, the microphone is particularly effective at suppressing sounds from the entire 180° hemisphere behind the microphone.nnThe included black SG 105 support clip is designed for use with this vocal microphone. The clip can pivot and has a 5/8"-27 thread, as well as a thread adapter to connect to 1/2" and 3/8" stands.nnAcousticn- The studio condenser capsule used in the microphone provides the foundation for transmitting all the nuances of the human voice. Compared to other handheld microphones, which mainly operate with dynamic capsules, it offers particularly high acoustic transparency, a wide frequency range and fine transient resolution.n- In this microphone, a carefully adjusted acoustic filter and a transformerless impedance converter capable of handling very high sound pressure levels prevent the microphone from being saturated even by powerful plosive sounds.n- Despite enhanced pop protection, sibilants and S sounds are transmitted with their natural emphasis, as is only possible with condenser microphones. Furthermore, the acoustic filter is designed so that the distinctive directional characteristics of the capsule are preserved even in the bass range. The filter thus ensures a very high level of feedback protection for this vocal microphone when used with a stage sound reinforcement system.nnElectricaln- Since vocal microphones are generally used at close range, for the bass frequency response, electronic compensation is used for the proximity effect in the respective capsules.n- Additionally, the microphone has an invariable integrated high-pass filter with a cut-off frequency of 120 Hz (-3 dB, measured in a free sound field). The microphone's dynamic range is 132 dB, and the maximum sound pressure level is 150 dB.n- The low self-noise level of only 18 dBA allows the microphone to be used at high gain levels without risk of additional noise. Even at great distances, the microphone thus operates with a high signal-to-noise ratio, facilitating the freedom of movement and creativity important for the artist.n- Thanks to the transformerless output circuit, the microphone signals can be transmitted even through long cables without sound loss.nnMechanicaln- Designed for stage use, this microphone has a thick-walled metal housing, which also provides effective protection against handling noise.n- The microphone head grilles are made from hardened steel. If necessary, they can easily be unscrewed to allow cleaning of the internal acoustic filters.nnApplicationsnn- For voice and speech on stagen- For announcer microphone for broadcasting/dubbingn- Particularly suitable for in-ear monitoringn- For feedback-sensitive environmentsnnAdditionalnn- Neumann sound on stagen- High transparency for voice/speechn- Cardioid/supercardioid directivity with improved feedback rejectionn- Colouration-free off-axisn- Effective pop protection without side effectsn- The pure sound of the Neumann capsule in the digital domainn- The satisfaction of recording the uncoloured original, without bottlenecks between the capsule and the recording systemn- A/D convertern- Anti-clipping processing ensures safe handling and reduces stressn- Reduction of time requirements and personnel costs, particularly through faster post-production processingn- Separate A/D converters and preamps are no longer necessary, saving space and weight (for example, in the outside broadcast vehicle)n- Power supply (phantom power compliant with AES42 standard)n- Neumann A/D conversion process, internal word length of 28 bitsn- Fixed-point digital signal processing, variable internal word length from 28 to 60 bitsn- Remote-controlled functions including a parametric compressor/limiter (including de-esser function), an independent peak limiter avoiding any clipping, switching functions (soft mute, phase inversion, indicator lights), indicator lights (red and blue LEDs), system functions, firmware download, and polar pattern
