The Yamaha CXS18XLF in black is a passive subwoofer designed to extend the low frequencies of full-range speakers and is perfectly suited for use with any powered speaker in the CZR series. The subwoofer requires 1000W of power to drive the 18" woofer, offering a frequency range of 32 Hz to 150 Hz (-10 dB) with a maximum SPL of 133 dB.
Yamaha recommends using a DSP speaker processor or a power amplifier with built-in DSP, such as Yamaha's PX series amplifiers, to adjust filters, limiting and equalisation for optimum performance. Additionally, two or more subwoofers can be deployed in a cardioid configuration (depending on the DSP), which can effectively reduce stage volume while increasing low-frequency output directed towards the audience. The rear panel features three Neutrik speakON NL4MP connectors, configured with two input/parallel connectors for multiple subwoofers plus one output connector for flexible configuration to CZR full-range speakers or a cardioid mode configuration. The Yamaha CXS18XLF is fitted with a 35 mm pole socket and an M20 threaded socket to support a full-range speaker.
