The Yamaha DXS18XLF-D black is a Dante-equipped powered subwoofer designed to extend the low frequencies of full-range speakers and particularly suited for use with any powered speaker in the DZR series. The 1600 W Class D amplifier drives the 18" woofer to deliver a frequency range of 30 to 150 Hz (-10 dB) with a maximum SPL of 136 dB.
The built-in 96 kHz D-XSUB LF DSP processor offers comprehensive bass management. Normal mode is ideal for a balanced low-frequency response, while Boost mode delivers tighter, more focused bass with slightly more impact. Xtended LF mode lowers the low frequencies even further for a deep bass sound. When using two or more subwoofers, selecting Cardioid mode can effectively reduce on-stage volume while increasing the low-frequency output directed towards the audience.
The rear panel features two XLR-1/4" combo inputs with XLR thru/out outputs and dedicated level controls. A USB port allows system updates and the configuration and saving of presets. The DXS18XLF-D is equipped with an additional panel with two etherCON connectors (2 inputs/2 outputs) for interfacing with other Dante-compatible equipment such as other speakers and Yamaha CL/QL/TF digital mixing consoles. The Yamaha DXS18XLF-D comes with a standard IEC power cable.

D-XSUB LF Processing
- DXS XLF subwoofers are driven by 96 kHz high-power DSP processors and use dynamic EQ
- The built-in D-XSUB LF processing offers total low-frequency management
- Normal mode: Set for an ideally balanced low-frequency response
- Boost mode: Delivers tighter, more focused bass with slightly more impact
- Xtended LF mode: Lowers the low frequencies even further for a deep bass sound
- Cardioid mode:
- Works with two or more subwoofers
- Effectively reduces on-stage sound pressure while increasing the bass output directed towards the audience
- Results in a much clearer on-stage monitoring environment
DSP Protection
- DSP protection features for maximum output and component longevity
- Active subwoofers ensure that the transducer and amplifier combination is matched and optimised for the best possible performance
- During development, Yamaha measured and tested the durability of each transducer and the overall amplifier output to define optimal limiting points using precise DSP control
- Using many of the same protection features used in top-of-the-range professional amplifiers, Yamaha's DSP constantly monitors the status of the power supply, power amplifiers, transducers and signal levels to protect each component in order to maintain optimal performance while extending component lifespan and ease of use
Dante
- Dante enables intelligent system integration with Yamaha consoles and other Dante devices via Dante I/O (2 inputs/2 outputs), which also includes an SRC (sample rate converter) enabling compatibility with 48 kHz devices
- Cabling is considerably simplified with Yamaha CL/QL digital mixing consoles from the I/O device display
- TF console users can select Quick Config for surprisingly fast and easy setup and use of a sophisticated PA system
- Combining analogue I/O with Dante I/O opens flexible routing and system configuration options
- Dante's break-IN and break-OUT functionality adds even more flexibility by acting as a simple I/O box
- Yamaha's customisable control panel software "ProVisionare Control" for Windows and "ProVisionare Touch" for iPad are also Dante-compatible, adding simpler remote management of your PA system
