Yamaha 2-Way Bi-Amplified Bass-Reflex Studio Monitoring Speaker
The Yamaha HS5I black bi-amplified active 2-way studio monitor delivers 70 W of output power, a 5" cone woofer, a 1" dome tweeter, response adjustment controls to adapt the speaker output to a wide range of acoustic spaces, and a standard XLR connector as well as a jack input for direct connection of electronic musical instruments and other sources. The active studio monitor can be used to reproduce audio in various environments such as recording studios, home studios, cafés, restaurants, etc. Featuring a low-resonance cabinet design, the MDF cabinet of the HS series offers a damped acoustic response perfectly suited to reference monitors. The bi-amplified design includes a 45 W amplifier for the woofer and a 25 W amplifier for the tweeter. Other features include noise reduction technology that reduces audible noise by up to 6 dB at the speaker port. Additionally, the HS5I studio monitor can be wall or ceiling mounted. Highly Efficient Transducers The HS series features updated transducers that deliver a smooth response over a wide bandwidth range. These transducers use a magnetic field design that regulates the magnetic response to provide natural, smooth sonic transitions. – Tweeter: 1" dome – Woofer: 5" cone High-Performance Amplification Unit HS series speakers use an amplification unit matched to the transducers used in each model in the series. Featuring a bi-amplified design with a separate dedicated amplifier for the woofer and tweeter, this amplification unit ensures that every HS series speaker delivers high-resolution sound with a flat response across the entire sonic spectrum. Low-Resonance Cabinet Design Monitor cabinets are designed to eliminate unwanted resonances and increase sound reproduction accuracy. The cabinets are constructed from highly dense and resilient MDF with a damped acoustic response well suited to reference monitors. Noise Reduction Technology The speaker port design can influence overall sonic clarity. Often, a vortex at either end of the port can generate air turbulence inside the port, causing unwanted noise. By adopting advanced noise reduction technology, audible noise reduction is decreased by up to 6 dB. This allows the HS series studio monitors to meet the demands of the most demanding professional production environments. Controls and Connectivity The full-range models in the HS series feature two response controls with detailed settings that allow them to adapt to the acoustics of room surfaces of various shapes and sizes. The room control allows you to attenuate exaggerated and unnatural low frequencies that can often occur when speakers are placed near walls, while the high-frequency trim provides better control of the high-frequency response. For inputs, the full-range HS speakers can accommodate a wide range of balanced and unbalanced sources such as mixing consoles, keyboards and audio interfaces with XLR and TRS connectors. Wall or Ceiling Mounting By adding mounting points to the original HS monitor, the HS-5I model is now compatible with two types of optional brackets – wall and ceiling – adding the flexibility needed to accommodate a wide range of acoustic environments.
