Canon EU-V1 Extension Unit 1
The Canon EU-V1 Extension Unit mounts onto your C500 Mark II camera and offers increased connectivity, expanding the camera's capabilities for remote control as well as live video production. The extension unit adds three ports: Genlock/Sync Out, Remote B (RS-422) and Ethernet. The Genlock/Sync Out port accepts a genlock signal that synchronises your camera to the same time base as other equipment receiving the genlock signal. Sync Out allows your camera to feed other live production equipment to synchronise with your camera. The Remote B port allows you to control your camera using the RS-422 protocol, while the Ethernet port allows you to connect your camera to a LAN network for control and live streaming applications. The ports are fitted with rubber caps to protect the connectors from dust when not in use.
Genlock is at the heart of live production/broadcast as it ensures that all production equipment, cameras and mixers, operate in phase with one another. This prevents image jumps or black frames when switching from one source to another.
