Canon TS-E 50mm f/2.8L Macro Tilt-Shift Lens
Characterised by its close-focusing capabilities and perspective control, the Canon TS-E 50mm f/2.8L Macro is a normal focal length tilt-shift lens perfectly suited for product, still life, architecture and interior photography. A tilt of up to +/- 8.5° is possible for focus control, and a shift of +/- 12mm to adjust perspective and composition. A tilt locking mechanism can be used during shooting for greater stability. A minimum focusing distance of 10.6" and a maximum magnification of 0.5x are also optimised by the range of movements for better depth of field control when photographing close-up subjects.
Complementing the lens's operation, this L-series prime lens is also distinguished by its optical construction which includes a pair of ultra-low dispersion elements to significantly reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations, as well as one aspherical element to minimise spherical aberrations and distortion. Individual elements also benefit from Air Sphere and Subwavelength coatings to suppress flare and ghosting, thus offering better contrast and colour neutrality.
The perspective control tilt-shift lens allows for a shift of +/- 12mm and a tilt of +/- 8.5°. Both types of movements can be applied independently, parallel or perpendicular to each other. Additionally, the tilt and shift functions can be rotated +/- 90° in any direction to apply movements in distinct directions.
The tilt locking mechanism and large tilt wheel facilitate use and ensure the lens remains in place during shooting.
Two ultra-low dispersion elements help reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved sharpness and colour accuracy.
One aspherical element minimises spherical aberrations and distortion for improved sharpness.
Air Sphere and Subwavelength coatings have been applied to the lens elements to minimise surface and internal reflections, significantly reducing flare and ghosting when used in bright lighting conditions.
A minimum focusing distance of 10.6" combined with a maximum magnification of 0.5x facilitates working with close-up subjects.
The nine-blade rounded diaphragm contributes to a pleasing background blur quality that favours the use of shallow depth of field techniques.
