The POL-F55 Polar Bear camera cover is designed to keep the Sony PMW-F5 and PMW-F55 cameras warm in cold weather. It features a black nylon fabric exterior, is heavily padded and built with high-volume insulation. The interior is lined with a phase-change material (PCM) that stabilises temperature and helps retain warm air in the camera chamber. Air-activated hand warmers can be placed inside the case to maintain interior temperatures in extreme cold conditions (Portabrace Polar covers have been tested down to minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit). The POL-F55 can be used with a lens hood or a standard lens. The attached insulated lens cap protects the lens during transport and prevents condensation from forming when the camera and Polar Bear case are brought in from the cold outdoors. Velcro strips line the interior of the Polar Bear to accommodate optional air-activated hand warmers (Portabrace Polar Heat Packs). Two hand openings at the lens and one near the viewfinder are closed by cotton sleeves that keep hands warm. The POL-F55 features three sets of zips that make it easy to install and remove the cover. The fitted lower zip wraps around the tripod plate, preventing cold from entering when the camera is used on a tripod.
