The Sony ECM-W2BT offers vloggers, YouTubers, journalists and content creators using Sony cameras with digital MI interfaces a truly flexible and easy-to-use wireless microphone system, featuring advanced Bluetooth technology for high-quality sound and reliable low-latency performance. The miniature clip-on transmitter with built-in omnidirectional microphone allows you to quickly and easily mic up your subject for a rapid interview without having to worry about a cable. The transmitter also features a 3.5 mm stereo audio input, allowing you to connect a smaller, more discreet lavalier microphone such as the ECM-LV1 (sold separately) if you wish. The compact receiver attaches directly to the MI shoe of compatible Sony cameras, providing the system with up to 9 hours of battery life, assisted by the camera's power supply. The transmitter and receiver are powered by built-in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries; without an MI connection, the system will operate for up to 3 hours between charges. If the camera's MI shoe is also equipped with a digital interface, the direct connection allows the camera to record impeccable sound with ultra-low noise levels. A clever feature is the addition of a built-in microphone on the receiver, with a 3-position switch allowing audio to be captured either from the subject at the transmitter, from the camera operator at the receiver, or from both simultaneously for interviews. The receiver also features a 3.5 mm output for connection to traditional DSLR/mirrorless cameras, and a 3.5 mm TRS cable is supplied along with a USB cable and a windscreen for the transmitter/microphone.
Fast and easy wireless audio with high-quality advanced Bluetooth
  • The small clip-on transmitter incorporates an internal microphone capsule that captures sound clearly and crisply to deliver a high-quality audio stream. The microphone is also effective at suppressing unwanted noise.
  • The omnidirectional microphone picks up sound from all directions. Use the clip to position the microphone close to the speaker's mouth, without worrying about its orientation. 
  • The Qualcomm aptX Low-Latency Bluetooth codec is used for transmission between the microphone and the receiver on the camera, ensuring low latency and preserved audio quality. The reliability of the system helps you avoid the stress of having to re-record audio due to interruptions in the recorded sound, and the low latency allows you to better synchronise the audio track with video footage.
Wireless MI digital connection for select Sony cameras
  • Thanks to the convenient power interface provided by Sony cameras equipped with an MI shoe, you can record wirelessly for up to nine hours.
  • You can also benefit from improved sound quality through the MI digital audio interface (available on compatible cameras), ensuring impeccable digital sound quality.
  • The transmitter and receiver are equipped with built-in rechargeable batteries.
  • The battery life of the receiver will be three hours of use when paired with cameras that do not support power supply via the Multi Interface shoe.
Adjustable input levels and windscreen for clearer recordings
  • The device's sophisticated attenuation function allows you to record loud audio sources at a lower volume or boost quieter sounds, enabling you to easily optimise recording levels to suit the circumstances.
  • The windscreen included with the ECM-W2BT effectively reduces wind noise as well as excessive breath noise. This means you can record clear, stable sound even when shooting outdoors in windy conditions.
Stable, uninterrupted audio recording
  • Stable wireless performance ensures solid connectivity and significantly reduces the risk of audio stream interruption, even in crowded environments with a lot of wireless activity.
  • The system offers an operating distance of 200 m in locations with good line of sight.
Convenient modes for single- or two-person shoots
  • The ECM-W2BT can easily be used to record the voices of two people — the camera operator and the subject — at the same time.
  • With built-in microphones in both the transmitter and receiver units, the ECM-W2BT is perfect for quick recording by a single operator.
  • Audio sources can be mixed and recorded together in MIX mode.
  • A single switch on the receiver allows you to easily select the capture mode required for your shoot. Three capture modes are available: audio capture from the microphone only, from the receiver only, or a mix of both.
  • For multi-person shoots, use the provided connector protection holder as a microphone stand and position the mic in the centre; the 360° omnidirectional microphone will capture audio from all participants.
3.5 mm input on the transmitter for a more compact lavalier microphone option
  • The 3.5 mm input jack allows you to connect a compact external lavalier microphone (sold separately) for a more discreet visual appearance.
  • The optional ECM-LV1 lavalier microphone, for example, can be easily concealed in your subject's clothing, capturing close-up stereo audio that is then transmitted via the long wireless range available for the ECM-W2BT.

  • With its moisture- and dust-resistant design, the ECM-W2BT is ready for reliable use in any environment. The components incorporate seals and port covers for reliable, uninterrupted outdoor operation.
  • The compact size of the system is perfect for outdoor or on-the-go shoots. At just 27 g for the microphone/transmitter unit and 28 g for the receiver, it won't slow you down during a shoot.
Use with a wide range of devices
  • A wide range of cameras and other devices can be connected to the receiver unit.
  • Equipment such as PCs and digital voice recorders that support audio input but do not have a Multi Interface shoe can be connected via the 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack output port.
Safeguards to prevent recording failures
  • To prevent accidental interruptions during audio recording, the ECM-W2BT is equipped with indicator lights that confirm correct operation.
  • The LINK indicator displays the transmission status between the microphone and the receiver, and the POWER indicator warns when the remaining battery charge becomes low.
