Designed for high-channel-count sound reinforcement applications, the Sound Devices Astral Opto serves as a compact 1U rack-mountable expansion box for the Astral ARX32, effectively addressing the need for increased connectivity in high-demand scenarios. Its primary addition is Optocore support, enabling seamless integration with an Optocore network to provide native audio connectivity to a DiGiCo mixing console.
In addition to Optocore connectivity, the Astral Opto offers essential redundancy through a comprehensive set of analogue and AES72 digital audio outputs, two additional MADI outputs, 16 flexible GPIO I/Os, and fully redundant AC mains power, ensuring robust and reliable performance for complex sound reinforcement productions requiring numerous channels.

Optocore inputs/outputs
Optocore audio output channels are hard-wired to receive channels (i.e. RX1 to Optocore output 1, RX2 to Optocore output 2, RX3 to Optocore output 3, etc.
When connected to the A20-SuperNexus
Power is shared between the two units. Each is capable of powering the complete set. Both can be connected to mains power for redundancy.
Control of the Astral Opto is performed from the ARX32 menus.
