The Angenieux Optimo 19.5 to 94 mm spherical wide-angle zoom lens is a fast zoom with PL mount for Super 35 mm sensors that was designed from the outset to use interchangeable rear optical assemblies. This allows you to use the same lens to cover Super 35 or full frame/VistaVision sensors by replacing the rear optical assembly. In addition, the rear assemblies allow factory engineers to switch from PL to Panavision. This version of the lens is supplied with a PL mount and the Super 35 rear optical assembly. In this configuration, it has a T2.6 aperture, a front diameter of 136 mm, a 4.7x zoom ratio and focuses to 2' from the image plane. The lens has internal focus and zoom, so there is no change in size during adjustment and very little breathing. The lens features independent control rings for focus, iris and zoom with standard cinema gear teeth. Interchangeable Rear Optical Assembly The Optimo 19.5 to 94 mm is designed with interchangeable rear optical elements to allow you to easily convert the lens from Super 35 coverage to full frame/VistaVision. This design has many advantages over adding additional optical elements such as the Optimo 1.4x or 2x multipliers, as replacing the rear assembly allows the lens to maintain the same physical size and minimum working distance whilst losing only just over one stop when switching from Super 35 coverage to full frame. Furthermore, as the optics are designed to be part of the lens and not just additional elements that enlarge the image resolved by the lens, they match the optical quality of the lens and your image does not suffer from having to pass through additional glass/air surfaces, which can degrade your image. Interchangeable Lens Mounts This lens is supplied with a PL mount; however, this mount can be exchanged for a Panavision mount by factory engineers. Losing only 1/10 of a stop in the lens, the Optimo is extremely efficient. The fast T2.6 maximum aperture in Super 35 mm matches the maximum aperture of many standard prime lenses for Super 35 mm. This allows you to light at a lower illumination level than normally required for many zooms, resulting in more consistent images as you may not need to relight the scene as is often the case when switching from prime lenses to slower zooms. Manual Lens Control Rings Features independent manual control rings for focus, iris and zoom. Each control ring incorporates standard 0.8 gear teeth. 136 mm Front Diameter The Optimo 19.4 to 94 mm has a front diameter of 136 mm. Temperature Stability Optimo lenses are designed and built to compensate for temperature variations, which helps reduce the need to recollimate the lens.
