PANASONIC LEICA DG 10-25MM F 1.7
Panasonic LUMIX is proud to introduce a new standard zoom interchangeable lens, the LEICA DG VARIO-SUMMILUX 10-25mm / F1.7 ASPH. (H-X1025), which offers a wide F1.7 aperture across the entire 20-50 mm zoom range (35 mm camera equivalent) with exceptionally high optical performance meeting LEICA's rigorous standards. The LEICA DG VARIO-SUMMILUX 10-25mm / F1.7 ASPH. is suitable not only for still photography but also for video to satisfy professional photographers and videographers.
The fast F1.7 aperture across the entire range delivers beautiful bokeh and exceptional image quality. Covering a focus distance from wide angle to the standard zoom range, the LEICA DG VARIO-SUMMILUX 10-25mm / F1.7 ASPH. performs like multiple fixed focal length lenses offering the same level of image quality or even superior to what fixed focal length lenses can offer. It is suitable for a variety of everyday shooting situations, from dynamic landscapes to low-light conditions, eliminating the need to change lenses depending on the situation.
Comprising 17 elements in 12 groups, the optical system includes three aspherical lenses and four ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses that effectively suppress axial chromatic aberration and magnification chromatic aberration. Spherical aberration and distortion are also corrected by the aspherical lenses for exceptionally high resolution. The use of aspherical lenses and the optimised optical system design achieve a compact size and light weight despite its exceptional optical performance.
Compatibility with a high-speed sensor drive of up to 240 fps enables fast and precise autofocus. Notably, the new lens excels in video recording performance. In addition to the quiet operation achieved by the inner focus system, the clickless aperture ring and the micro-step drive system in the aperture control section help the camera to smoothly follow changes in brightness during zooming or panning. The optical design ensures exceptional centre-of-gravity stability to minimise image shifts during zooming. The adoption of a focus clutch mechanism enables instant AF/MF switching and precise manual focusing. The LEICA DG VARIO-SUMMILUX 10-25mm / F1.7 ASPH. also excels in performance with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which was an issue with interchangeable lenses designed for still image photography.
The robust dust and splash-resistant design withstands use in tough conditions even at 10 degrees below zero for excellent mobility. Nine diaphragm blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractive, soft blur effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at wider aperture settings. The filter diameter is 77 mm. The highly reliable metal mount ensures long-term use.
