The Sigma 16-28mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens for Leica L is a compact and high-performance ultra wide-angle zoom designed to complement a photographer's arsenal by offering a versatile range of focal lengths in a small and lightweight body without compromising optical quality. A fast constant aperture of f/2.8 allows the use of faster shutter speeds in low-light conditions and is particularly useful for close-up shooting thanks to its shallow depth of field.
This lens uses a complex arrangement of specialised aspherical and low-dispersion glass elements to effectively suppress chromatic aberrations in order to improve clarity and colour accuracy. Super and nano-porous multi-layer coatings have also been applied to improve contrast and colour rendering by reducing flare and ghosting when working in bright lighting conditions. The internal zoom and focus mechanism maintains constant lens dimensions across the entire zoom range and at all focus distances. This design feature virtually eliminates centre-of-gravity shift and maintains a fixed front element, making it an ideal instrument for videography, travel and landscape photography.
The constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 is well suited for working in ambient light conditions.
Two large-diameter aspherical elements control spherical aberrations and distortion for increased sharpness and accurate rendering.
The nine-blade rounded diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.
The 72 mm front filter thread allows the use of common screw-in filters instead of specialised configurations.
A stepping AF motor benefits photographers and videographers with its fast, precise and near-silent performance. Real-time manual focus control can also be selected.
Weather-resistant construction with a brass bayonet mount offering improved mounting precision and rigidity.
