The HDCU-3170 triax camera control unit is the ideal companion to Sony's HDC-3170 system camera. It also adds live IP production capabilities to our comprehensive range of broadcast and studio system cameras.
Although primarily intended for triax use, the addition of the optional HKCU-FB30 fibre board makes the HDCU-3170 compatible with both triax and fibre systems – a benefit for production companies and outside broadcast trucks working in stadiums and venues with different transmission systems.
By installing the optional HKCU-UHD30 4K/HDR processing board, the HDCU-3170 can deliver 4K signals when connected to an HDC system camera. Additionally, the addition of the optional HKCU-SDI30 12G-SDI interface kit enables 4K signal transfer via a single BNC cable
Connecting to compatible cameras via a triax cable, the compact (1.5U) HDCU-3170 powers the camera, performs signal processing and provides an interface with external equipment.
With the addition of optional boards and kits, the HDCU-3170 offers support for various interfaces, including 3G SDI and IP. The CCU can simultaneously deliver HD, HDR and SDR outputs when used with HDC-3170 series system cameras.
Combined with the optional HKCU-SFP30 board, designed for the SMPTE ST 2110 Professional Media Over Managed IP Network suite of standards, the HDCU-3170 CCU supports the essential features required for live IP production, including tally, intercom and return.

Compact and versatile
The compact 1.5U camera control unit creates a standard 19-inch rack system, ideal for production areas with limited space.
Eight built-in SDI outputs
The HDCU-3170 is equipped with eight built-in SDI outputs, including four 3G-SDI outputs. For increased production flexibility.
MENU adjustment from a web browser
The CCU supports menu control from a web browser. Monitoring the status of multiple CCUs, importing/exporting settings files and remote firmware updates enhance efficiency and convenience of use.
IP functionality for live production
The optional HKCU-SFP30 interface kit adds the essential features required for live IP production, including ST2110 output and return and NMOS IS-04/05 as well as tally, intercom and IP return.
Long-distance high-quality signal transmission
The addition of the optional HKCU-SFP30 enables long-distance signal transmission up to 10 km over single-mode fibre, making the CCU ideal for space-limited environments such as broadcast vehicles.
