AJA 4K/2K/3G/Dual Link/HD/SD I/O
KONA 4 is a powerful 8-lane PCIe 2.0 desktop video and audio input/output card with unmatched capabilities for handling everything from SD to HD, 2K and 4K with full 10-bit 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 sampling for fantastic image clarity and 12-bit support. For HDR workflows, KONA 4 supports HDR 10 and HLG for rich colour reproduction via HDMI. KONA 4 has the power for today's and tomorrow's work.
Professional Connectivity
KONA 4 features bidirectional 3G-SDI connections that can be used for both input and output. 16 channels of embedded audio on SDI for multi-channel audio work and HDMI 2.0b monitoring output. LTC input/output, Genlock input, RS-422 control, configurable SD/HD 3 x BNC analogue video output and 8-channel AES input/output with the K3G-Box all enable KONA 4 to integrate into a variety of workflows ranging from HDR to HFR, 4K to multi-channel HD for streaming and more.
HDR
HDR or High Dynamic Range, offers the ability to display a wider and richer colour gamut, much brighter whites and much deeper and darker blacks than standard signals allow. This gives your images a more “dynamic” appearance and allows you to communicate natural and true-to-life colours to your audience.
KONA 4 provides this support for your HDR 4K/UltraHD/2K and HD workflows to HDMI-compatible displays in v13 software by offering HDR10 support with HDR 10 infoframe metadata, compliant with HDMI 2.0a/CTA-861.3 standards and HLG support on applicable HDMI displays. Desktop v13 software introduces HLG support via HDMI for the latest versions of Adobe Premiere CC.
Apple Mac Pro Compatible
AJA offers full compatibility with Apple's new Mac Pro, including support for AJA Control Room with Metal compatibility as well as extended support for a range of applications. For productions managing high-resolution workflows up to 4K, KONA 4 is a perfect companion for video and audio input/output.
Workflow
Connect your digital sources via 3G-SDI to KONA 4 to capture in a wide variety of formats. Monitor via HDMI output (HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision and HDR10+), and master to destinations using high-quality professional SDI outputs, machine control and analogue or tri-level reference.
Powerful
KONA 4's extended 4K support enables direct output from editing systems to 4K projectors or monitors, including HFR support at 50/60 fps and 4K HDMI output to support the latest UltraHD monitors, allowing editors and clients to view 4K images at full resolution whilst working.
KONA 4 also supports AJA Raw capture up to 120 fps via 4 x 3G-SDI connections. Create beautiful, detailed slow-motion with compelling cinematic rendering via AJA Control Room.
High Frame Rate Support
KONA 4 has the power to support 4K at high frame rate (HFR) at 50p and 60p for the most demanding 4K and UltraHD workflows.
4K HDMI Output
The HDMI output is capable of displaying 4K/UltraHD via HDMI on many recent UltraHD monitors, making full-resolution monitoring affordable whilst maintaining impeccable image quality.
AR Support with Unreal Engine 4.22
Capture real-time footage with KONA 4 via SDI from high-quality cameras, merge your footage with your virtual environment created by Unreal Engine and send it back in real time for broadcast - a growing need for broadcasters, augmented reality (AR) requirements and more.
Digital filmmakers also benefit from these new workflows: On set, enhance your VFX work live with the ability to see a complete composition live during filming. This reduces retakes, gives actors the opportunity to understand the virtual environment they are working in for stronger performances and ultimately leads to a range of efficiencies and savings, with the added benefit of a smoother transition to post-production.
Hardware Keying
The integrated downstream hardware keyer enables graphics and images to be overlaid on the card's input video for easy compositing.
Legendary Support
AJA technical support is recognised as one of the best in the industry and is provided at no additional cost. Our support team will work with you to resolve any issues you may encounter and ensure you are up and running as quickly as possible.
Integration
KONA 4 supports macOS, Windows and Linux, delivering incredible power in 4K and multi-channel for a wide range of applications.
