The bi-directional 12G-SDI ports provide immense flexibility for simultaneous capture and pass-through, and with appropriate software, multi-channel capture and playout.

Professional connectivity: 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0
KONA 5 features 4 bi-directional 12G-SDI connectors and a reference input directly on the card bracket. The 4 HDBNC SDI connections can be used in a wide variety of configurations to meet your creative needs; use four cables simultaneously to support either 8K/UltraHD2 (via 4x 12G-SDI) or 4K/UltraHD (via 3G-SDI), or use a single cable for input and a single cable for simultaneous output/transmission either in 4K/UltraHD (via 1x 12G- or 6G-SDI) or HD/2K (via 1x 3G-SDI, or even single/dual link 1.5G-SDI).
A full-size HDMI 2.0 connection provides monitoring and output, with HDR, Deep Colour and HFR support. Overall, KONA 5 is the choice of professionals for post-production, broadcast, graphics, virtual stages, pre-visualisation, live compositing and more.
Extended connectivity
KONA 5 comes with an included breakout cable that provides extended connectivity for AES, RS-422 control support and reference:

KONA 5 also comes with 5 HDBNC to full-size BNC "pigtail" cables to ensure immediate compatibility with your SDI infrastructure.
Compatible with Apple Mac Pro
AJA offers full compatibility with Apple's new Mac Pro, including support for AJA Control Room with Metal compatibility as well as extensive support for a range of applications. For productions managing high-resolution workflows up to 8K, KONA 5 is the ideal companion for the new workstation offering multi-channel 4K and 8K support.
HDR
HDR (High Dynamic Range) offers the ability to display a wider and richer colour gamut, much brighter whites and much deeper and darker blacks than standard signals allow. This gives your images a more “dynamic” appearance and allows you to communicate natural and true-to-life colours to your audience.
KONA 5 offers robust HDR compatibility for HDMI displays with support for HLG and HDR10 with HDR Infoframe metadata, compliant with HDMI2.0a/CTA-861.3 and HD standards.
And by using AJA Control Panel and AJA Control Room (free software provided for capture and playback with the AJA Desktop Software package), you can start working immediately with HDR ingest, pass-through and monitoring.
Workflow
Connect your digital sources via 12G-SDI to KONA 5 for capture in a wide variety of formats. Monitor via HDMI 2.0 output (HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision and HDR10+), and master to destinations using high-quality professional SDI outputs, machine control and analogue or tri-level reference.
Synchronisation
KONA 5 can be synchronised to an external reference for integration into larger productions, or fed with LTC input and output to ensure that footage captured with KONA 5 has the appropriate time code.
Machine control
A 9-pin RS-422 port on the included breakout cable enables control of a range of external devices for frame-accurate captures and keying.
AR support with Unreal Engine 4.22
Capture footage in real time with KONA 5 via SDI from high-quality cameras, merge your footage with your virtual environment created by Unreal Engine and output it in real time to air − a growing need for broadcasters, augmented reality (AR) requirements and more.
