Tiffen 49mm Circular Polarising Filter
Tiffen 49mm Circular Polarising Filters - Reflected light rays become polarised. Polarising filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can eliminate unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colours by providing better contrast. The effect can be observed in the viewfinder and modified by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies depending on the rotation of the filter and its orientation relative to the sun.
If you are out for a walk on a beautiful day - in the mountains or at the beach - and wish to take a fabulous photograph of a sky filled with clouds or make the water more saturated, then a polariser is the solution. This filter is the best way to make clouds stand out, increase or decrease the saturation of the ocean or increase or decrease reflection on water. You can also use this filter when photographing through glass or windows as it will allow you to increase or decrease reflections.
If you are shooting in black and white and wish to simulate a threatening storm, try using a red #25 filter. The landscape will take on the appearance of an imminent and threatening storm.
Along with a UV or Skylight filter, a polarising filter should be part of any photographer's equipment. It can transform an ordinary image into a creative and stunning photograph by increasing colour saturation.
Note: Circular polarisers are specially designed for use with autofocus reflex cameras (they will also work without problems on manual systems)
