Tiffen Black Pro-Mist 1/4 72mm Filter 
 
The Tiffen Black Pro-Mist 1/4 72mm filter helps to reduce highlight values whilst slightly lowering overall contrast. This filter is particularly useful for smoothing and softening facial wrinkles and other imperfections. Whilst designed for cinematographic use, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion or soft-focus filter, Pro-Mist filters offer little detail loss across the entire image. The 1/4 density provides more contrast and highlight reduction than the 1/8, but less than the 1/2, whilst allowing a soft, pastel light quality.
Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it in precision metal rings.
- Pro-Mist filters offer little detail loss across the entire image compared to traditional diffusion and soft-focus filters.
