Aja 3G SDI Utility Frame Synchroniser
The OG-FS-Mini is a broadcast-quality openGear utility frame synchroniser that incorporates the proven reliability of AJA's FS frame synchronisation technology into an openGear card, supporting frame synchronisation of unsynchronised 3G-SDI, HD and SD video signals at an affordable price.
The OG-FS-Mini allows users to synchronise and convert a wide range of video formats to their internal standard with 3G-SDI input and output, HDMI output and two 3-pin terminal block connectors for balanced analogue audio outputs. The OG-FS-Mini also offers high-quality up-conversion, down-conversion and cross-conversion.
Simplified functional diagram
The OG-FS-Mini is designed to meet the requirements of broadcast engineering and live event production whilst offering incredible flexibility. It receives an unsynchronised signal, synchronises it, processes it and automatically routes it to the SDI output for use in production and to the HDMI output for monitoring. The user selects the 2 audio channels routed to the balanced analogue audio monitoring outputs.
openGear compatibility
The openGear standard ensures that AJA cards will be compatible with other openGear products from certified openGear partners. With a growing list of products, openGear is the future of rack chassis products.
Flexible I/O
The modular rear panel allows custom I/O connections per card (included with individual cards).
Integrated security
Optional redundant power supply provides a secondary power source in the event of main power supply failure.
Ethernet access
A standard Ethernet connection provides access to the chassis via the Dashboard application for global chassis communication.

Digital monitor output

1x standard HDMI connector type A:
HD/SD
Colour space, YCbCr or RGB
Bit depth, 8 or 10
RGB range, SMPTE or full range

Video processing

Frame rate conversion/removal/insertion of film cadence (3:2)
Freeze (in the event of loss of input signal) to black or to last correct frame
AFD input detection, down-conversion control
Nominal HD/SD video delay, 1 frame

Up-conversion

10-bit hardware
Pillar 4:3: Generates a 4:3 image centred on the screen with black bars on the sides
Pillar 14:9: Generates a slightly zoomed 4:3 image to fill a 14:9 image with black bars on the sides
Full screen: Generates a 4:3 image stretched horizontally to fill a 16:9 screen
Letterbox to full: Generates a zoomed image to fill the entire screen
Wide zoom: Generates a combination of zoom and horizontal stretch to fill a 16:9 screen; this setting introduces a slight aspect ratio change

Down-conversion

10-bit hardware
Crop: The image is cropped to fit the new screen size
Anamorphic: The HD image is converted to full-screen SD with a 16:9 aspect ratio
14:9: The image is slightly reduced whilst preserving the aspect ratio, black is added at the top and bottom and the left and right sides are cropped
Auto AFD: Automatically selects the best down-conversion mode based on the AFD (Active Format Description) code of the input video

Letterbox: The image is reduced with black added at the top and bottom of the image area, with the aspect ratio preserved

Cross-conversion

10-bit hardware
1080i to 720p
720p to 1080i
720p to 1080PsF

SD to SD aspect ratio conversion

Letterbox: Transforms anamorphic SD material into a letterbox image
H crop: Produces a horizontal stretch effect on the image; transforms anamorphic SD into full screen
Pillarbox SD: Produces an image centred on the screen with black borders on the left and right and an anamorphic image in the centre
V crop: Transforms letterbox SD material into an anamorphic image
14:9: Anamorphic to 14:9 conversion
