Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens
Designed primarily for close-up photography, the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM is a versatile short telephoto lens from the L-series that is also suitable for portrait photography and other mid-range subjects. As a macro lens, this 100mm offers a maximum life-size magnification of 1:1 and a minimum focusing distance of 30cm. To complement close-up photography, image stabilisation is integrated, minimising camera shake by two stops at maximum magnification of 1:1, or up to four stops at lower magnifications for sharper handheld shooting. Also contributing to smooth and intuitive handling, a ring-type USM motor and internal focusing design provide fast, quiet and precise autofocus performance as well as continuous manual focusing. In terms of optical assets, an ultra-low dispersion element is incorporated to control colour fringing and chromatic aberration, and a Super Spectra coating has been applied to suppress flare and ghosting for improved contrast and colour fidelity. Additionally, as an L-series lens, this 100mm f/2.8 is weather-sealed to perform in challenging weather conditions.
This short telephoto lens is designed for Canon EF full-frame DSLRs, but can also be used with APS-C models where it offers an equivalent focal length of 160mm.
Ideal for macro photography, this lens offers a maximum life-size magnification of 1:1 as well as a minimum focusing distance of 30cm for working with close-up subjects.
An ultra-low dispersion (UD) element significantly reduces chromatic aberrations and colour fringing to improve sharpness and colour accuracy.
A Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimise ghosting and flare, providing better contrast and colour neutrality when shooting in bright lighting conditions.
An optical image stabiliser helps to minimise the effects of camera shake to improve handheld shooting in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds. The efficiency of this system compensates for up to two stops of shake at a ratio of 1:1, three stops at a ratio of 1:2, and four stops at lower ratios.
A ring-type ultrasonic motor (USM) and internal focusing design are used to provide fast, precise and quiet autofocus performance as well as continuous manual focusing.
The focus limiter allows you to restrict focusing to three different ranges for faster focusing: 30cm-48.8cm, 48.8cm-infinity, and the full range of 30cm-infinity.
The nine-blade rounded aperture contributes to a pleasing background blur that favours the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.
As a member of the prestigious L-series, this lens is weather-sealed to perform in challenging environmental conditions.
An optional rotating tripod collar is available and facilitates the use of the lens on a tripod or monopod.
