A particularly elegant prime portrait lens, the 56mm f/1.4 DC DN is part of Sigma's Contemporary series and is designed for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras in APS-C format. The lens is characterised by its bright maximum aperture of f/1.4, which suits difficult lighting conditions and also offers improved depth of field control to isolate subjects and work with selective focus techniques. The optical design uses two aspherical elements and one SLD element, which help reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations for greater sharpness and clarity. A Super Multi-Layer coating has also been applied to suppress reflections and ghosting in order to increase contrast and colour accuracy when working in bright lighting conditions. Complementing the optics, a stepping motor AF motor suits both photo and video applications with its fast, precise, and near-silent performance.
