Prized for events, portrait and sports photography, the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Sports lens in Sigma SA mount is a versatile telephoto zoom characterised by its bright and sophisticated design. The constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 excels in challenging lighting conditions and also offers increased depth of field control to isolate subjects. Regarding the optical design, 10 impressive low-dispersion elements are used to considerably reduce chromatic aberrations and colour fringing for better colour clarity and accuracy. A Super multi-layer coating is also present and helps to suppress ghosting and flare when used in bright lighting conditions.
Complementing the optics, an intelligent OS system minimises the appearance of camera shake for sharper results when shooting handheld. A Hyper Sonic Motor is also used to provide fast and silent autofocus with the ability to switch to manual focus at any time. The physical design of the lens also incorporates multiple seals to protect against dust and moisture, and a hydrophobic and oleophobic coating has been applied to exposed elements to prevent moisture, fingerprints or smudges from adhering to the surface. In addition, a fixed rotating tripod collar is present and features a removable Arca-compatible foot for broad compatibility with different tripod or monopod heads.

– Versatile telephoto zoom designed for full-frame Sigma SA cameras, but also suited to APS-C models where it provides an equivalent focal range of 105–300 mm.
– The constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 is well suited to working in low-light conditions and also offers better control of the focus position when using shallow depth of field techniques.
– One extra-low special dispersion (SLD) element and nine F low-dispersion (FLD) elements are present in the optical design and help to reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations for better colour clarity and accuracy, as well as spherical aberrations to reduce distortion and improve sharpness across the entire zoom range.
– A Super multi-layer coating has been applied to the lens elements to minimise flare and ghosting and help produce images that are rich in contrast and colour-neutral, even when shooting into the light.
– The front and rear lens elements have received a hydrophobic and oleophobic coating for easier use in difficult environmental conditions.
– The 11-blade rounded diaphragm contributes to a soft and pleasing bokeh effect.
– The built-in HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) enables fast and silent autofocus, enhanced by an optimised AF algorithm for smoother focusing performance. The HSM also allows manual focus control at any time by simply turning the focus ring.
– An intelligent optical stabilisation system minimises the appearance of camera shake to allow sharper images when shooting handheld.
– The bayonet mount is manufactured from brass to ensure precision and durability. In addition, a rubber seal is integrated into the mount design to make it dust- and splash-resistant.
– The tripod collar has a rotating design and the replaceable foot is Arca-compatible for easy mounting.
